The Visionary: Dr. Kendyl Joi
Dr. Kendyl Joi (Watson) is a faith-driven educator, award-winning artist, and entrepreneur who has spent her life bridging the worlds of academic excellence and creative soul. With a Doctoral degree (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction and an M.A. in Educational Psychology from Pepperdine University, Dr. Kendyl Joi currently serves as a Distinguished rated Early Childhood Educator, where she translates complex developmental theory into joyful, high-impact learning for young scholars.
Her journey is one of global perspective and artistic rigor. A graduate of the prestigious University of Minnesota-Guthrie Theater program and the Vancouver Film School, she honed her craft on the world’s most renowned stages, including the Royal National Shakespeare Theater in London. From being named "Best New Face" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune to her beloved role as Nefertiti on TVOne’s Love That Girl, Dr. Kendyl Joi’s career has always been about the power of storytelling.
As the founder of CROWNS Creations, Education, Culture and Care Enterprise, she integrates her decade-long tenure as a Theater Arts Director with her passion for holistic development. Whether she is writing original music for her one-woman show, WAKE ME UP, or designing curricula that spark literacy and communication, her mission remains the same: to empower others to use every gift they’ve been given.
When she isn't shaping minds or gracing the screen, you can find her grounding her creativity through the tactile arts—styling natural hair with intricate locs and braids or hand-crafting original crochet designs. Dr. Kendyl Joi is a testament to the fact that you don’t have to choose just one path; you can be an example of excellence in them all.
